What is the status of state nomination visas for 2024-25
Updates by states for the 2024-25 financial year
The current Australian financial year will draw to a close on 30 June, 2025.
As usual this time of year, most of the states have closed or are close to, ending issuing invites for thier state nominated visas. This includes both the Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491) visa.
Most applicants will, now, need to wait for 1 July, 2025 before they may obtain an invite to apply for nomination under these programs.
At time of this post, the state programs status are as below.
- ACT – As of 14 April, 2025 the ACT has issued almost 1,400 of their 1,800 invite allocation . There was due to be an invite round on 30 May 2025. Details of this invite round haven’t been published as time of posting.
- NSW – NSW has reached its nomination allocation for the Subclass 190 visa. NSW indicated that they will be issuing some more invites prior to the end of June 2025. To date, the details of this invite round haven’t been published.
- Queensland – Queensland closed its 2024-25 skilled State Nominated Migration Program in late May. Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for the onshore, graduates, offshore and regional small business owners pathways are now closed. Migration Queensland will continue to assess the applications currently under assessment until all nominations are completed. Migration Queensland will publish details of the 2025-26 program when available.
- Northern Territory – NT have closed their 2024-25 nomination program for both the 190 and 491 visa The program will re-open in 2025-26 once allocations are known.
- South Australia – SA have allocated the majority of their places. Offshore applicants will still be considered by SA, if they have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI).
- Tasmania – Tasmania have not provided any specific updates about their 2024-25 program.
- Victoria – Victoria closed Registration of Interest (ROI) for their program on 29 April 2025. If applicants hadn’t submitted an ROI they will need to wait for the start of the 2025-26 financial year on 1 July, 2025.
- Western Australia – WA have continued issuing invites throughout the 2024-25 FY. In cludign invites as of today 9 June, 2025.
In recent correspodence we have had with some of the states, we are aware that they remain focussed on attracting the skilled applicants – and their families – to their states.
They are eagerly waiting on their 2025 -26 allocations.
