Victoria to re-open state nominated visa program in coming weeks
Victoria have confirmed – July, 2024 – that their state nomination program will re-open in the coming weeks. The state nomination visas includes the:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
They have also announced the numbers for the 2024-25 program. As well, that they are open to nominated Subclass 888 applicants for permanent residency.
At the time of closing the state nomination program for the 2023-24 financial year, Victoria were targeting applicants in the following sectors.
- Health
- Social services
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Early childhood, primary, secondary, and special education teachers
- Advanced manufacturing
- Infrastructure
- Renewable energy
- Hospitality and tourism – for the 491 visa
We will need to wait to confirm if there will be any changes to the above for the 2024-25 program.

” Update of Victoria’s 2024-25 Skilled and Business Migration Program
Skilled program
The Australian Government has allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places to Victoria for the 2024-25 program.
Victoria’s allocation consists of:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) – 3,000 places
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – 2,000 places
More information on the 2024-25 program, including eligibility requirements and program dates, will be published on the Live in Melbourne website when available.
Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)
The Australian Government has permanently ceased the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) (subclass 188) visa program from July 2024.
We remain open to nomination applications for:
- Permanent visa nominations (subclass 888), and
- extensions for the Business Innovation and Significant Investor streams.”
