Announcement – South Australian State Nominated Occupation List (SNOL) 2017/18
The following is an announcement from Immigration South Australia.
Immigration SA’s application system will close at 3pm (ACST) on Thursday 29 June 2017 and will re-open at 12pm (ACST) on Tuesday 4 July 2017.
This closure affects all existing or new applications for Skilled, Employer Sponsored and Business migration.
Skilled Migration
The re-opening of the application system on Tuesday 4 July will coincide with the release of the updated State Nominated Occupation List (SNOL) for 2017/18. The update of the SNOL is an annual process undertaken by Immigration SA to manage participation in the national migration program.
As per the current SNOL, certain occupations will not be able to access state nomination for the subclass 190 visa and are therefore restricted to the subclass 489 visa. This reflects both restrictions put in place by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) in defining ‘regional occupations’ and further considerations by Immigration SA. Immigration SA will also restrict offshore applicants for certain additional occupations to state nomination for the subclass 489 visa.
DIBP has also advised that the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) will be revised on 1 July. As the STSOL forms the basis for the SNOL, Immigration SA will need to take into consideration any changes that may occur. Depending on when DIBP advise of any changes, the SNOL (and Supplementary Skilled List) may need to be further amended following its release on 4 July.
Applications submitted before 3pm (ACST) on Thursday 29 June will be assessed according to the current SNOL, and Immigration SA will endeavour to finalise these applications in SkillSelect so that they are not affected by any subsequent DIBP changes. The ability to do this will depend on volumes received and we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible to facilitate processing prior to 1 July.
Note: Any Skilled Migration application that has not been submitted before 3pm (ACST) on Thursday 29 June will be deleted from the system and will not be able to be accessed again.
Employer Sponsored
From 1 July the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will require that nominees meet new English language and age requirements. These requirements, as well as others planned for March 2018, are available in Fact sheet two: Reforms to Australia’s permanent employer sponsored skilled migration programme. Advice from DIBP is that changes to the permanent Employer Sponsored program apply at time of lodgement and not decision.
There are no changes to Immigration SA requirements and applications for RCB advice will continue to be assessed during the system closure as per normal.
Business Migration
There are no changes to Immigration SA requirements and applications will continue to be assessed during the system closure as per normal. Please note that no nominations will be provided until after 1 July 2017 (this includes renomination requests) when Immigration SA’s allocation is reset.
Kind regards
Immigration SA
