Update – Western Australian business migration nomination

The WA Government have announced the below.

” Please note, applications for Western Australian State nomination for business and investor provisional visas are closed until further notice.

Western Australia has temporarily closed applications for State nomination for the Business Innovation and Investment provisional visas pending the release of additional places by the Department of Home Affairs. We value your interest in our program and encourage you to check this website regularly for updates. We hope to reopen the program shortly.”

Announcement – Limited options for Western Australia skilled migration

Limited Options for Western Australia state nominated skilled visas

Western Australia have announced their skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL).

As of 21 June, 2017  only 18 occupations can be applied for under the Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa and the Subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 489) state/territory nominated visa.

This is a significant reduction from previous WASMOL’s, where more than 100 occupations could be applied for.

Strict Criteria – including a 12 month contract of employment

Amongst various requirements, all applicants will be required to have a contract of employment for full-time employment for at least 12 months in the nominated or a closely related occupation.

Interim Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL)

Western Australia have announced a interim skilled occupation list. This will be in place until the WASMOL is released on May, 2017.

The relevant statement from Skilled Migration Western Australia is detailed below:

“New applications for the State Nominated Migration Program are being accepted with an interim Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL) targeting those occupations which are of a specialist nature and have compelling evidence of unmet demand at a State level.

The State Government will be consulting with industry to develop a new list which is expected to be complete and operational in late May 2017.”

Western Australia skilled migration list under review: 2016 to 2017

Western Australia Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL)

The Western Australia government has announced that their skilled migration list is currently under review. A new WASMOL will be issued when the review is finished.

We will provide details about any changes when they become available.

If you wish to apply of nomination by Western Australian now, you will need to apply under the current WASMOL .

Recent changes to the WASMOL

There has been two amendments made to the WASMOL recently. These are detailed below. If you intend to apply, or you are waiting for nomination, for these occupations you will not be approved.

  • ANZSCO 133512 Production manager (Manufacturing); and
  • ANZSCO 141111 Cafe or Restaurant Manager.

Northern Territory skilled migration list: 2016 to 2017

The Northern Territory announced some amendments to their nominated occupation list on April 14th, 2016. To discuss how this may impacts you, and your ability to apply for the below please get in touch:

Closed occupations on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list

The Western Australian government have advised that as of March 16th, 2016 the following occupation on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list is now closed:

ANZSCO 234514 Biotechnologist.

If your occupation is closed, you will not receive an invitation to apply for State nomination. If you have already received an invitation, your application will not be affected.

This follows some recent announcements about other occupations on the Western Australia skilled migration occupation list.

  • ANZSCO 312114 Construction estimator occupation on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list is now restricted.Invitations to apply for State nomination (for this occupation) will be limited whilst under review.
  • ANZSCO 272412 Interpreter and ANZSCO 272413 Translator are closed occupations.
